Freeze Dried Food VS Dehydrated Food
Many people referring to terms of dried food, they all think the freeze dried food and dehydrated Food are the same. Really? Absolutely not .So, what are the differences between Freeze Dried Food and Dehydrated Food?
Equipment
Dehydrating Food: Placing food outside in the sun on days, some factory utilizing an electrical device with trays that has a fan either at the bottom forcing air up vertically or in the back forcing air through horizontally
Freeze Drying Food: Freeze drying is a much more complex process and requires specialized equipment. Dehydrating materials at low temperature to achieve the purpose of drying under the condition of low temperature and reduced pressure.
Nutrition
Normally, both freeze dried food or dried food are good for us, but freeze dried food can remove more moisture than dehydrated food, and during the processes, freeze dried food can maintain most nutrition, so, the freeze dried food is more popular.
Shelf-life
Freeze-dried foods have a shelf life of 25-30 years and dehydrated foods have a shelf life of 5-15 years as long as they are properly packaged and stored in both cases. Because the process of dehydration does not remove as much moisture its shelf life is shorter than freeze-dried food.
